TEAM LEADERS

LOUIS J. GROSSMAN has been President and Treasurer of The Grossman Companies, Inc. since 1980, when he and his father, Morton, purchased the family real estate business and reformed the company under the new name.  Under Louis’ thoughtful guidance and leadership, the Company has successfully developed and acquired a portfolio of over forty commercial and residential properties, primarily located in New England.

Louis began his real estate career in 1976, when he joined Sonnenblick-Goldman Advisory Corporation in New York, serving as Mortgage Officer for two real estate investment trusts, North American Mortgage Investors and Mortgage Growth Investors.  A graduate of Brown University with a B.A. in Economics, Louis earned his M.B.A. from Columbia University’s School of Business.

Louis is active in numerous local and national civic and charitable organizations, including the Red Cross, Rivers School, Brown University, Roxbury Latin, Temple Beth Shalom, and Combined Jewish Philanthropies.

RICHARD MCKINNON is responsible for overseeing all brokerage activities at The Grossman Companies, Inc.  An excellent business strategist with extensive market knowledge, Richard has been instrumental in attracting several prestigious tenants to properties owned and managed by The Grossman Companies, Inc. Among these is Federated Investors, Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments, Mortgage Guaranty Trust Co. (MGIC), and Kemper Insurance.  

Richard's activities include leadership roles in a number of professional associations. He has twice been named to the Greater Boston Real Estate Board's Multi-Million Dollar Commercial Leasing Club, is a past chairman of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce Real Estate Committee, and actively participates in the Commercial Leasing and Investment Committee and the Real Estate Finance Association. He also is a frequent contributor of articles to The Boston Herald and The New England Real Estate Journal.  Richard is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati.

TED AREND is responsible for all property management activities at The Grossman Companies, Inc., managing nearly one million square feet of office, retail, industrial and residential properties in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and Connecticut. Formerly with The Flatley Co., Ted is a seasoned veteran with more than 20 years experience in commercial real estate construction and property management.

Ted’s professional affiliations include membership in the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).  He has been featured in articles in The Boston Herald and The New England Real Estate Journal. He is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, and earned an M.B.A. from the University of Denver. An avid antiquarian book collector, Ted is an expert on the history of Boston Harbor and its islands.

PHILLIP (PHIL) T. SHERIDAN, JR. is responsible for the control and accounting functions at The Grossman Companies, Inc., overseeing all of The Grossman Companies, Inc. financial records, internal auditing, and management information systems. A Certified Public Accountant specializing in real estate, Phil worked for Peat Marwick and for Martin Braver & Co., a regional accounting firm, before joining The Grossman Companies, Inc. in 1988.

Phil received his B.A. degree from Northeastern University and his M.S. degree from Northeastern’s Graduate School of Accounting. He is an elected member of The Academy, The Nation Honor Society of the College of Arts and Sciences.

LOIS NUTLEY is Administrative Team Leader, Office Administrator and Human Resources Manager, with overall responsibility for the smooth day-to-day operations of The Grossman Companies. Lois has an Associates Degree in Business Management from Quincy College.

Before joining the company in 2001, Lois had worked for a large medical practice as supervisor of medical records, and as administrative assistant to the Director of Quincy Community Action Program (QCAP).

Lois enjoys line dancing and volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul and a local Youth Ministry program. She is a past den leader for both Boy and Girl Scouts.
